GORDON, Texas – Foodservice operators and car service operators in the Houston area are closing because of fuel shortages, the company said on Tuesday.
The closures are due to increased demand due to a severe drought, said the Food Service Company of Greater Houston, which operates in Houston and surrounding areas.
Houston’s population is nearly 4 million, and the region has a large Hispanic population.
The company said it has a “deep commitment” to serving customers, and it expects to serve more than 2 million customers by the end of the month.
The shortage is affecting about 10% of the area’s restaurants, according to the company.
